LaKesha Davis, LMFT

Lakesha is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist based in Windsor; CT committed to working with diverse populations. She has over 2 decades of experience working in different capacities with youth, adults, and families in a range of treatment settings. Lakesha’s passion is being a guide to assist in breaking cycles that have left so many of feeling stagnant, stuck, and defeated in life leading. These cycles have often caused many of us to feel there are no options, and we have to surrender to the idea of “well that’s just how life is”.

Many of her clients find themselves feeling stuck as they navigate transitional or unfamiliar phases of life. This often includes adjusting to situations such as college life, parenthood, divorce, marriage, launching into adulthood, living independently, starting a new career, co-parenting, multi-generational living, loss, self-discovery and much more. She provides understanding and compassion, normalizing and teaching about feelings of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, lack of motivation, and fear that occur because of these changes when we are not fully prepared for them.

The foundation of the therapeutic process she provides when working with clients are: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, an evidence-based approach that focuses on assisting individuals to understand and address faulty and distorted thinking, learned patterns of behaviors, and ineffective ways of coping and Systemic Therapy, which focuses on how an individual’s personal relationships, behavior patterns, and life choices are interconnected with the issues they face in their life both past and present. Lakesha’s hope and intention are to assist clients in gaining insight and self-awareness of unconscious thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and their origin.

This process will open the door to unlearning unhealthy patterns, which makes space for learning and implementing new skills, and healing. Her goal is to empower individuals through difficult times, providing a warm and non-judgmental space where clients feel comfortable, heard, safe, validated, and understood, allowing a partnership to develop during the therapeutic process. Lakesha ensures the necessary time and care are taken to gain insight into the needs of her clients, defining the therapeutic process, addressing apprehension around therapy and meeting individuals where they are to build an extensive level of trust.
